A Stellar Year for Open XDR Innovator Stellar Cyber

Open XDR innovator Stellar Cyber had quite a successful year. Here, we go over the company’s strategy from last year and dive into what we can expect to see from them in 2024.

Leveling Up the Platform

At the heart of Stellar Cyber’s strategy is innovation. Each year, the company tweaks and hones its cybersecurity platform. With every year that passes, it’s more comprehensive and accurate in threat detection and automatic response.

They have been developing their Open XDR technology for decades. It currently consolidates the insight of multiple once-siloed security tools. With machine learning and AI, they have drastically reduced the number of false positives.

However, companies are up against more attacks every day, many of which become more sophisticated by the day. Advanced threats are challenging to detect with existing security tools.

Every year, Stellar Cyber innovates to keep up with the reality of hacking. And provide a platform that is intuitive to use. They provide insights that correlate the large volumes of data. Then, it reports on the truly critical exploits within the company’s unique context.

In 2023, Stellar Cyber’s innovations sharpened the detection and response for IT teams who use the platform. They now have a version that is even more comprehensive and thorough compared to last year.

Additionally, Stellar implemented a chatbot for its users, using GenAI to create the Stellar Cyber Chat. This chat option makes it even easier for users to get the answers to any burning questions that appear as they use the product.

This marked their first try at developments in the GenAI area. In 2024, the company plans on dedicating more time and resources to generative AI.

Building Critical Partnerships

In 2023, Stellar Cyber teamed up with many companies. These partnerships have helped them both promote and improve the platform beyond what would be possible if they did it alone.

“From a route-to-market perspective, we added new vital partners in Malaysia (PROVINTELL), the Philippines (NEXTGEN Group, NTT Data Solutions), and Thailand (Vintcom),” stated the CEO and co-founder of Stellar Cyber Changming Liu.

Some of the critical partnerships happened with companies that are known cybersecurity veterans such as Blackberry, Hitachi, SentinelOne, and Oracle.

Strategic partnerships mean that Stellar Cyber offers a platform that is faster and costs less. As a result, Open XDR technology is available even to companies with limited resources and understaffed IT teams.

Therefore, partnerships have a major role in making sure that the technology goes forward in its trailblazing fashion. These collaborations ensure they keep up with the current state of the cybersecurity industry and the security needs of businesses.

Launching Cybersecurity Programs

Stellar Cyber launched two crucial programs in 2023 — the InterSTELLAR Partner Program and the Stellar Cyber University Program.

The first program they started was InterSTELLAR. This program is designed to help the vendors, MSSPs, and their customers. It offers training and all the necessary materials for companies that want to market and use Stellar Cyber’s products.

For involved companies, participating in the program means they can get faster ROI.

The Stellar Cyber University program was started to aid universities, students, and underserved communities.

Most universities can’t change their curriculum often enough to keep up with the rapidly evolving cybersecurity industry. Also, many lack the funds that are necessary to provide their students (future cybersecurity professionals) with real-world experiences.

The University program also helped underserved communities whose security posture was improved by the students who participated in the program.

Listed Among Top 3 XDR Vendors

XDR technology is in high demand. Businesses can choose from a variety of cybersecurity companies that offer this integral technology. In 2023, Stellar Cyber was named one of the Top 3 vendors in an MSSP Alert survey.

Stellar Cyber’s dedicated customer services and programs such as InterSTELLAR are what put them on the map of top-rated XDR providers.

The company expanded its routes to market worldwide. As the CEO states, “Our relentless pursuit of customer excellence directly led to doubling our top 250 MSSP customer base, now up to nearly 50.”

Stellar Cyber was also listed on Gartner’s 2023 Market Guide for XDR as a representative vendor, listed among some of the most prominent cybersecurity vendors in the world.

Other Gartner reports that listed Stellar Cyber in 2023 include:

  • Hype Cycle for XDR solutions for midsized companies
  • NDR Voice of Customer
  • SecOps Vendor Hype Cycle

Expectations for Open XDR in 2024

In 2023, Stellar Cyber paved the future of Open XDR through their important partnerships, specialized programs, new features, and improved platform capabilities.

“Bottom line, 2023 was a banner year for Stellar Cyber, where we were able to help security teams significantly improve their ability to detect and respond to threats faster, improving their effectiveness while at the same time reducing the cost and complexity of securing their environments,” says Liu.

Going into 2024, the company’s focus is similar. They want to continue innovating the Open XDR platform, from the way data sources are integrated to the way ML and AI are leveraged to identify threats and correlate insights. They intend to further elevate automated responses to exploits.

From finding new ways to deliver the platform to MSSPs and customers to adding new features, they expect another stellar year is ahead.
