Cyber Security
Cyber criminals, state-sponsored hackers and even the occasional disgruntled employee are constantly looking to gain unauthorized access for a variety of purposes: theft of money, cyber espionage, personal information for sale or for use in scams, and damage to critical infrastructure for just a few of the most common.
So how does an organization mitigate an entire world full of continual cyber attacks? Just as buildings have a number of necessary elements of physical security: access control, cameras, alarms and so on; there are similar key elements of cyber security that are absolutely vital for just about any modern business.
It starts with identifying and closing the most common doors that attackers use. For example, phishing attacks on employees are far and away the most common initial point of entry. The breach of even a low-level employee account can quickly turn into an escalation in access privileges and the ability to reach sensitive information. This is also true of smart devices, which are generally more poorly secured than computers and phones.
The Five Eyes intelligence alliance has issued a joint alert warning that Chinese espionage operatives are using LinkedIn recruitment to target security and intelligence officers.
NSA primarily conducts intelligence gathering and hacking against foreign adversaries. It does raise questions about to what degree the government is now planning to embrace Mythos AI in cyber operations and would appear to be a powerful confirmation of the system's cyber capabilities.
The executive order instructs the National Security Agency, Department of Defense and other agencies to create a benchmarking standard to determine the degree to which AI models are a cyber risk that may impact national security, but stresses that it is not a "mandatory governmental licensing, preclearance, or permitting requirement" for developers.
A security flaw enabled hackers to take over Instagram accounts by tricking Meta AI support chatbot into adding an attacker-controlled email address and triggering a password reset.
On June 2, Anthropic confirmed that it will be adding 150 new organizations across some 15 countries to the "Project Glasswing" access to Mythos AI Preview and that ENISA will be among these.
In just a few years, Anthropic transformed from a safety-focused AI startup into one of the most consequential companies in cybersecurity. But, aside from systems generally considered secure today, what does this mean for systems that have routinely proven to be insecure? This is where Microsoft comes into play.

A massive supply chain attack dubbed Megalodon has infected over 5,500 GitHub repositories with credential-stealing malware, creating backdoors and automated workflows.
Iranian hackers linked to Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security were responsible for the Los Angeles transit system breach that disrupted online services.
